Leonardo Hotel Middlesbrough

We were met by Samarth at the front desk. What a nice, professional and helpful man. Breakfast was excellent and well worth the cost. Very happy and will definitely be booking again.

We recently stayed at the Leonardo Hotel in Middlesbrough and, although we initially ran into a few issues, these were later handled with excellent service which really improved our overall experience. Check-in: Check-in started off well — the lady at reception was friendly and polite. There were a couple of small misunderstandings around information about the facilities and car parking, but this was later clarified and dealt with professionally by the team. Spa and Pool Area: The swimming pool itself seemed to have a lot of chlorine — so much that our eyes were burning while in the water. The young lady on reception for the spa area didn’t seem very interested in helping guests, spending most of the time on her phone with her feet up. It was also confusing that towels for the pool were kept behind the main hotel reception instead of in the spa area. When we asked where to return our used towels, the directions were vague and the response became quite sharp when we needed clarification. Room: The room was a good size, though it did feel a little dated and would benefit from some refreshing and a deeper clean in certain areas. That said, any concerns raised were addressed well by the team afterwards. Breakfast: Breakfast was a real highlight. The two ladies working in the restaurant were fantastic — friendly, welcoming, and very professional. They explained everything clearly and offered freshly cooked vegetarian sausages and poached eggs, which were delicious. We made sure to thank them on our way out. Checkout & Service Recovery: Although checkout didn’t originally include any questions about how our stay was, the hotel team later provided excellent service and ensured everything was resolved to a high standard. Their response made a big difference and left us with a much more positive impression. Overall: While we encountered a few issues during our stay, these were ultimately handled with great service afterwards. The breakfast team in particular stood out, and with some improvements to communication and the spa area, this hotel has real potential.

Although expensive, this hotel is good quality. The overall fit out of the rooms is good and includes a bath. The surrounding area, shows the extraordinary failure of capitalism in the North East of England. We were in town to screen our film 'We Are Making A Film About Mark Fisher'. Fisher would have had a lot to say about the profound economic differences between London and the North East. @markfisherfilm

Stayed for one night as a stop gap. Extremely welcoming on arrival, the hotel smelt amazing, room extremely clean and quiet. Nice little touches in the room like a postcard to send. Loved the art of the transporter bridge on wall. Amazing shower, the mattress was so comfortable i didn't want to leave. Didn't use facilities such as spa or gym but will next time

The 2 ladies on reception were so lovely. They were very welcoming and had great knowledge about the area. Room was great. Bathroom could do with a bit of an update. Breakfast was superb. Whole hotel was spotless.

I stay on own feel safe friendly staff great location for lots areas to explore shopping night out busses n trains on doorstep enjoy my stay with fab pool spa steam room jacuzzi definitely recommend breakfast is lovely

Really well run hotel,lovely food, clean and fresh with a spa that wasn't too busy. Location good for nightlife with plenty of bars and restaurants only walking distance away.

A nice hotel with clean rooms. Breakfast was really good. Staff all helpful and chatty.
